About Helen Alty
Following qualification in 2002 I elected to specialise in employment law and given the opportunity to establish a new area of practice in the creation and development of an employment department. Due to considered departmental business modelling, commercial awareness and intuition the service was consistently expanded to eventually lead to specialist employment law advice and representation across seven law offices.
Whilst heading the department I developed a considerable employer portfolio and represented a diverse range of respondents including national companies, LLP’s, partnerships, smaller sized businesses and sole traders. This has provided me with invaluable insight into the commercial decision making process and corporate human resource considerations. It is experience and knowledge which ensures I am familiar with employer tactics. This has proved highly beneficial and effective in the tactical and strategic representation of employees which is where my employment law passion and motivation lies.
My practice has always been employee biased. I have been privileged to advise, guide and represent clients from a host of different capacities ranging from managing directors and senior executives to zero hour contract workers together with independent contractors.
My extensive and specialist expertise means I can often predict any issues which may arise, negotiate effectively and maximise an employee’s position whether this is financial or a desire to improve employment terms or treatment. I take pride in guiding and reassuring employees throughout the whole process of negotiation, contract reviews, mediation, exit strategies and legal proceedings, which at times can seem extremely daunting.

I am committed to delivering highly skilled and strategic representation to support and guide individuals through the often complex area of employment law.
My areas of expertise typically covers applicability and enforceability of contractual terms including restrictive covenants, breach of contract claims, redundancy, unfair dismissal, all forms of discrimination and harassment and TUPE together with advising clients who feel they are being subjected to unfair treatment requiring grievance advice, disciplinary guidance and/or negotiating an agreed exit via a Settlement Agreement.
